The winner was owned by Mr Robert Sangster, trained by M Vincent O'Brien and ridden by Lester Piggott. The winner won by 2 lengths in 1 minute 52.4 seconds, with a head between second and third. The race was due to be run the day before, but the meeting was abandoned due to a waterlogged course.
